Cu chi Tunnel
The Cu Chi Tunnels, located in the Cu Chi District of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, are an extensive underground network built by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. These tunnels, which covered more than 200 kilometres, served as living quarters, command centres, hospitals, supply routes, and hiding places. Additionally during the 1968 Tet Offensive, they were essential to the Viet Cong’s strategy. Life inside was difficult because there was less survival food, water, or air. Soldiers often struggled against diseases like malaria for days underground during the bombing. Although American forces attempted to destroy them in order to protect themselves against American attacks, the network was not completely wiped out. The tunnels mostly survived the intense bombings.
